Planning on buying this monitor. I've read in some forums about people complaining about the text not being sharp due to the matte anti-glare coating. Just wondering if text sharpness is any worse than in a Thinkpad screen.

I have it (among others) and find it amazing for the price. I find the text crispy clear, better then on the X220 IPS.

Same here. I've got three and have zero complaints. I can't exactly compare it to your notebook but I use these guys for 8+ hours a day without trouble.

I have one. No complaints--it's a great value.

I've also have three of them and I absolutely live it
Nov problems andere especially for the price they are awesome! -
Just got an Asus PA246Q. So far, thrilled with it. It's a little bit pricier than the Dell which I also looked at, but I wanted as much of the RGB gamut as possible. If that wasn't a goal, I'd have definitely gone for the U2412M.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, started using one today. Within a few minutes it was apparent that I wouldn't be able to go back to using any notebook size display full time. It is truly wonderful using a display this size and resolution.
I'm not particularly discerning about picture quality at this level so nothing more than the basic calibration off the lagom site. Only thing that seems to be slightly off is green gamma at 48%. The 1200 vertical pixel is really great. The anti-glare coating is visible on white screens but it's not objectionable and I'd rather have it than the reflections. Doesn't seem to affect text at all.
So no X1 Carbon for me. X220 for the foreseeable future. I have barely used it yet but I think this setup should work very well. -
Anyone have an Ultrasharp U2412m monitor?
