We had a discussion on that here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=205259

All you should have to do is set the router to work for N mode. With mine it is set to "mixed mode" so it will work in N, G, or B based on the WIFI device that connects to it. You should not have to do anything other than connect with your WIFI card in unsecured mode or WPA/WPA2 AES mode.

    optomos,

Hey Opto. Did I read in the DIR-655 specs correctly that different laptops can connect under different encryptions with the same DIR-655 router at the same time? One laptop under WEP and another laptop under WPA for example? That would be interesting....but I think I must have misread the thread/specs.

    Thanks,

    Alacrity

Unfortunately no. You can either use WEP or WPA/WPA2, but you can select specifics under WPA.

thanks...I thought i read that wrong....guess you would have to have the same security settings for all clients.....otherwise, the security of the system would be equivalent to the lowest security setting of any of the clients.

I see online my DIR-655 was shipped. Looking forward to seeing if my connectivity has improved. Up until now I have been buying the $29 Fry's Electronics routers....time for a good one...I hope it is the D-Link. Great reviews out there and with Morphy's and your results/review....I hope I am home free.

    optomos,

Just got my DIR-655 today and it seems to be working great. 130MB/s on laptop for great gaming fps & ping times.

And, I see that it does allow WPA and WPA2 to operate at the same time to handle other laptops having legacy wireless capability.

    dani,

Have you solved your N connection yet? I found out a number of things when connecting with my N router. One challenge was that both the modem and the router had the same access IP and I could not access the internet at all because of that. Had to change the IP of the router. But, I think you are connecting to the internet but just not able to get into the N mode? Is that correct?

Good! It's a very good router. The only one I have found yet that works great with Comcast.

Hi, I got the other day that my router Linksys WAG325N and my notebook, works with N technology, but only if I was near the router. If I go to my bedroom my signal convert to G and a poor connection.

    dani,

You can try to either rotate the router a bit (or put the router near a window) or add a 7db-10db antenna to the router.

In this router it's impossible to add a antenna, because the antennas that have, can't remove it.

This Linksys is an all-in-one and not a router. So the wireless N is actually a access point for within the device. I have also found some others complaining about this device being slow. Don't you have other options in the country you are in?

I would get a modem only that connects to a router. If you have any friends that have this type of connection I would try it at their place and see what you get.
