Looks like the Dell folks are starting to receive theirs. Has anyone gotten theirs for their Lenovo yet?
-
Still waiting.
-
Got mine today...
-
Will sell tomorrow...
-
I got mine, but not from Lenovo. I'll probably wait a bit before giving it a go.
-
i got mine yesterday, finished the upgrade to vista business on a z61t. it was actually kinda a hassle
-
I have mine. It's fine. -
How long is this validation process? It's been 4 days since I submitted a screenshot of my receipt email.
They said they will contact me when validation is complete but isn't it supposed to take just 48 hours or so? -
I mailed mine, no idea.
-
is there a phone number which i can call moduslink directly about this matter?
-
What does it say on the moduslink website when everything is confirmed? As of right now I have:
Order Number : xxxxxxx
Order Status : COA validated
Shipping Date :
Carrier : Standard
AWB# : -
COA/POP Validated something like that
-
Frankly, I've got XP just humming on my T60p and am in no hurry to screw with it. -
I thought from some other posts that the vista upgrade, once installed, voids your copy of XP. So basically once you switch, you can't return back. I understand there's some 30 day "trial" time...I think. Can someone confirm that?
Relating to the thread topic, I just faxed my email receipt from Lenovo yesterday. At what point should I be concerned and try to fax it again? I want to wait at least a few days before harassing them about it. -
Nah, if you have XP as your base system, it shouldn't be that difficult to wipe out Vista and restore it back to XP.
As for harassing them, I'm all for it since you can't be sure your original fax didn't disappear into the ether. -
The 3-4 page paper invoice that came with your thinkpads... do you guys mean Packing List?
That's what it says on mine.
I found that and want to fax it in. Can you give me the fax number please?
and should I write the Vista express order number somewhere on the top of the first page? -
Well what I did was printed out my email confirmation that showed up when the order shipped. I printed out a cover sheet also, that said how many pages, how to reach me, and the confirmation/order number twice. Not sure if it'll work, but that's what I did.
-
I got an email from Lenovo entitled "Electronic Receipt for Invoice ####### -- shipped on 03/09/2007" which had the relevant information. All I had to do was print the first page along with the order information page from moduslink.com (which had my Vista order number) and faxed both to ...

Now, this info was only good for the US. -
Stoic, how long did it take till you got validated?
I emailed an image of that Electronic Receipt (just one screenshot with my order details ship address, billing address, order number, model number, things of that nature)
but it's been about 8 days or so and I have nooooooo way of knowing if they even looked at it. -
About 5 days. I faxed them 4 times because my notification page didn't show COA/POP. I actually forgot to look after the last time but got the email a couple of days ago.

ModusLink is the most incompetent company ever. When I first placed the upgrade order in early January they would not validate the proof of purchase (email receipt from Lenovo). They just kept sending back an automated email message, and I could never get actual help until I called. The person I spoke to said that she could not see the problem, the receipt I sent should be enough. So I was finally COA/POP validated on January 25th. Its now been 2 months (well over the claimed 4-6 weeks from release to rtm) and my status is unchanged. I sent an email asking what was going on, and they replied (an actual person and not a canned message) saying my order is "approved" and being "prepared for shipment" but could still take 4-6 weeks because they have no way of knowing when I was POP/COA validated.
Is there any recourse we can take with IBM? -
I bought my X60 laptop on 21 Feb and registered immediately, thankfully without a glitch.
Its been over 2 weeks since I received notification that it was shipped. My upgrade disk arrived this morning.
Single DVD which also mentions Lenovo on it, so it looks like shipping will be manufacturer dependent.
I dont intend to install it for some time.

I finally received an email from Moduslink:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for submitting your order to upgrade your Microsoft® product. Your validation is now complete and we will be processing your order. You should receive an email confirmation when your order is shipped.
But when I check my existing order at Moduslink website, my order status still says 'Order Received'. What the heck?
I faxed my paper invoices this morning but it looks like I received this validation completed notice 10 hours ago. I hope I didn't confuse them even more... -
Update:
I got an email saying that my Vista upgrade is shipped.
Strangely, my order page still displays Order Received status. Ha!
Anyway, is it really going to take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive at my door? -

I got this
-
I got the order shipped e-mail on April 3rd and I never had even gotten around to sending in my order confirmation e-mail for the purchase of the laptop or anything. All I did was fill out the form and pay the shipping cost. I'm not going to complain though.
-
got mine in 3 weeks after sign up on website, had it for about a month now but still dont want to upgrade, still too many problems with vista, will upgrade when a service pack is released by microsoft,
-
Is there a compiled list of programs that don't work on Vista(32-bit)?
Can someone confirm that Adobe CS2 Stndrd Edition, Flash 8 Pro, TopStyle 3 Pro runs fine on it? -

Is it really necessary to update the BIOS before installing Vista? I've never updated BIOS of any computer. Is it as easy as double clicking on the executable and just running it in Windows?
I'm looking at the ibm page for drivers and softwares and I have no idea which ones are critical, which ones are just optional.
Maybe someone can be kind and list all the ones they installed. -
Great news guys. I ve just received today my Vista Upgrade!!!! Guess what though. I realized that the CD the sent me is the Lenovo CD edition DVD Windows and it is also BOOTABLE!!!! I thought that the CD was not going to be the bootable version and you needed to install it over XP. This one however, you can use it to install Vista from scratch!! Any ideas ??
-
just boot it and install
i still cant believe i have to wait 4-6 weeks to get mine. i paid $10 for shipping and they use a shipping method that wouldnt even cost 2 bucks for them... -
My "Windows Vista Business Express Upgrade (Lenovo)" just arrived in the mail (took about 3+ weeks). I'm in no big hurry to install it just yet. It would be nice to be able to do a dual boot with XP but I haven't heard that that was possible. I will probably mirror my XP installation and do a Clean Install of Vista. Evidently installing Vista over XP wipes out your XP License.
-
You know, I just received ANOTHER e-mail 15hrs ago.
-
-
Just answer the original question... yes, I have. I'm using the upgrade as I post this.
-
S. -
Yep. The Business upgrade gives you the option to do a clean install, while the Home upgrade does not. Also, when performing an upgrade (as opposed to a clean install) with Business, you must run the upgrade from XP (already booted).
-
By "clean install", do you mean booting the dvd after turning on the computer and going through the setup wizard and entering the XP serial manually?
Or, is WinXP automatically detected? -
Yep. Turn on your computer, put the disc in, and boot from the CD. The Vista setup will detect you have a genuine copy of XP and offer upgrade options accordingly.

I submitted all of my info in late December and both of my orders still say "Order Received". I e-mailed Moduslink and was told that I was only waiting for shipment. It's been nearly 4 months since I completed my end of the deal and still nothing.
I'm moving out on May 1 and starting to really freak out. I told them of this problem and they said I would have to cancel both my orders and resubmit, which means resending two PoPs all over again. This is really more hassle than it's worth, and I'm almost ready to just go out and buy two fresh copies -
I ordered mine mid February and still haven't received mine ....
I guess its time to give them a call >.> -
I've tried calling Moduslink on several occasions and can't get past anything automated. I'm really starting to doubt that place is anything but a bunch of robots.

I ended up calling Lenovo after being told to do so by Moduslink. I was transferred to an express customer service rep or something like that. I told my situation and my dissatisfaction with Moduslink. They were pretty understanding and Lenovo ended up sending me a free copy. I really didn't make that big of a deal out of it, but like I said they were extremely helpful and understanding.
The rep said something along the lines of them only having about a dozen copies that they are able to mail out like this, but it's worth a shot. He also mentioned that I wasn't the first to call and complain about never receiving my upgrade, and it sounded like they were pretty upset with the way the situation was being handled by Moduslink.
Anyone got their Vista upgrade yet?
