I'm curious to see if anyone who ordered a notebook over the weekend with the 20% coupon has received their second email confirmation? That's the second email saying your order is in the system. I ordered a X200 over weekend. I got the first email acknowledging my order. It stated I should receive another email in one to two days saying my order was in the system, but I've not gotten that one. I called today. They said it such a nut house over there, which is completely understandable, my order wouldn't be in the system until Monday or Tuesday. I was just wanted to see if anyone's had any better luck.

outlet orders are fulfilled by a different team. things there take a bit longer for an update. typically it's 3~4 business days but given the onslaught of orders from the 20% sale it'll probably be closer to 5~7.
as long as you didn't receive a cancellation notice, you should be ok. -
Yeah, I kind figured it was a zoo over there. I was just curious if anyone had gotten one.
-
I'm still waiting too. But honestly, let's not mince words: the Lenovo outlet people are completely incompetent: they can't keep their server up, they mix up orders all the time, they have NO customer support phone number, they ship cancelled orders, etc. The prices are usually pretty unremarkable, too.
I bought a laptop this past weekend since they actually had an excellent deal going, but that's a rarity, and I would have avoided them if the deal wasn't so good.
It's amazing how Lenovo makes such excellent laptops, but their support and supply chain people are retarded (why does it take a month to build a laptop when everyone else can do it in three days? Why does it take a month to ship a refurb laptop when the thing is already built and sitting in a box!) -
You seem to be drawing broad conclusions from little evidence. While there have been a very few really bad stories told here, the fact remains most people probably order and get their stuff without incident. Only the people with an issue post. I've bought probably 10 or items from the outlet over the years. Only once did I have an issue and it wasn't even really Lenovo's fault. My bank had put a hold on the card for some reason. It did take a couple calls to clear it up, but the other orders have gone off without a hitch
You also seem to be holding Lenovo to a higher standard than others. If you've ever been on a deal site and a really good deals comes along like the one this weekend, site often get hammered and you can't get through. While it's true there's no number on the site, I was able call the main customer service number on the site. A nice Indian lady help me and told me try again next week. It seemed pretty reasonable given how many orders I'm sure they received. -
It may be reasonable but lenovo has a lot of things it can improve on. I don't fault them in an absolute sense, but if I were part of management there are a number of areas I would shape up. Being able to handle high peaks of volume is part of running a business and you have to make preparations for that.
As a consumer though the ultimate thinkpad product and price keep me wanting... -
I've seen Dell, Amazon, NewEgg all getting hammered where you can't get through. They're just as big as Lenovo. All the majors making CTO machines have experienced delays with a new product at some point or another.

Over on Slickdeals, there is a 17ish page discussion about this 20% off event, and some people who ordered on Friday the 19th have stated that they received the 2nd email: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1876936
When did you order ZaZ? I ordered myself a 24" LED monitor on Sunday and also have yet to receive the 2nd email. -
I ordered on the 20th, I think it was late in the day. I'm not worried about it. If for some reason it doesn't work out, there'll be another along. In the week before the coupon there was a X200 with the four-cell in the outlet for $550 and there was an unopened refurbed on eBay for $650, which you could get for $600 with bing. That one had the six-cell, which I'd prefer. Mine has the nine. I suspect you'll see even better deals when the X201 is released. The X61 regularly was seen in the outlet for $550 when the X200 was released. Like I said I'm not in a hurry.
-
Yeah, I've seen some pretty ridiculous deals in the Outlet and on eBay lately. I bought both of my ThinkPads from the same seller on eBay. I got the X200 for $800 with the dock and a 3-year warranty back in October and it could be considered a REALLY nice deal back then, but some of the deals I've been seeing lately are beginning to rival that, especially considering some of them come with the P8800.
-
I just got my confirmation email, but the estimated ship date is 03/11/10. Some people in the Slickdeals thread said they've already received their order.
-
Haven't got it yet.
-
The check is in the mail. Supposedly, it ships tomorrow.
-
nice!
keep us posted on the results. -
I wasn't too troubled about it as to whether I would get it or not, but I didn't like being left in limbo. I sent a PM to Mark over at the Lenovo forums. About an hour later I got a very apologetic call from someone in Lenovo CS. Good to have friends I guess.
-
I placed an order for an x301 on the 19th. Came out to ~$800 after coupon. I got a "confirmation" e-mail on the 25th and my card has been pending since then. My bank even called me asking why they were taking so long to process the order. I've called to make sure everything was OK on both ends and my finances seem to be in the clear. Just waiting on them to actually charge and ship it out. Hopefully it'll finally go out this week. *fingers crossed*

Why would it take so long to ship an outlet computer? Aren't these already in stock?
-
As strange as it sounds, it sounds like they're not completely automated over there.
-
Lenovo resells the functional refurbs back to customers. They run their backend systems on the returns with the fried motherboards, grinding hard drives, and defective chipsets.
-
Zaz so you are finally getting the X200... nice, so how much did you actually get it for and is it new or refurb?
-
I paid just over $600 shipped. I believe it is refurbed, which doesn't bother me at all. I wanted something small and not pay a lot. There's better value in refurbed anyway. I hope to have the tracking number tomorrow. Once I get it, I'll give the once over and do a clean install. At some point down the road I'll swap in the AFFS screen. I'll have the best of both worlds. I'll have the big R60 for when I want to park my large derriere on the couch and surf while watching a movie. Plus the X200 for when I want to be mobile, both with very good FFS screens. Not too shabby.
-
another Frankenpad in the making.... it would be marvelous with the FFS screen, my X200's current screen is adequate, i will probably think about changing the LCD once the 3 years onsite warranty is over in 2 years.
-
Same...just under 2 years. I will have another laptop by then anyways.
-
That's why I was glad I got the one year warranty because I plan to violate it in the near future. Why pay extra and I'm fairly adept at fixing my stuff, though if the board were to go, I suppose I'd hosed. Interestingly, my R60 is still under warranty for a little while longer. Haven't used it so far.
-
i didn't get the warranty, it came standard when i got the laptop off someone.
-
Well my x200 warranty has already paid for itself with a new motherboard. So I guess I wouldn't be too mad at myself if lost it once I got another machine.
-
My monitor came unexpectedly yesterday even though, when I checked the status yesterday morning, it still said 03/11/10 would be the ship date. I checked the status page again after receiving it and it was changed to shipped on 03/04/10, so I thought "Wow, same day shipping?". So I checked the box and it was shipped on 03/02/10. Glad to see everything is so in order over there...
A question for all of you who bought from the Outlet before: on the Outlet page it says I have 90 days of warranty, but when I called yesterday they told me it's whatever the manufacturer's warranty, which would be 1 year. Which one is it? -
from the outlet home page:
-
Thanks Erik. Does that apply to monitors as well? If so then it's interesting that the Outlet says 90 days - I guess you can't trust anything they say.
http://outlet.lenovo.com/accessories/ca45j8978.html -
the warranty posted on the product detail page would supersede the general statement posted on the home page.
-
But being a monitor...it either goes bad quickly or goes bad in 3-4 years+ .
-
Thanks jaredy for the reaffirmation I hope it would last since it's an LED monitor.
-
Finally received my x301 from this deal and couldn't be happier! It came with much better stuff than the specs listed on the outlet site... 6-cell battery as opposed to the 3-cell, 4gb of ram as opposed to 3gb, and to top it off a 128gb SSD over the 64gb listed! (although I have an Intel SSD on the way).
Way better lugging this thing around school and to work than my T61, which seems like a monster in comparison to the X301's size - and all for ~$1300!
Anyone get their email confirmation for their outlet order over the weekend with the 20% coupon?
