Brightness, volume, etc? They look terrible. I wonder if there's a way to change it.

I have the Samsung screen. My laptop is scheduled to arrive today. What should I look for in this particular screen? If Im not satisfied, can I go ahead and send it back for a replacement like you did??

How often do you adjust that kind of stuff =/
I think it looks kind of retro, just like the rest of the notebook
If you don't install certain drivers/software package you'll still have the functionality of the buttons without the display. -
Werent you the one constantly asking Stallen what screen he has? -
YES but the parts lookup doesn't work both Stallen and I.
-
This is about the on screen indicators when you adjust volume, brightness, thinklight, etc. -

The green bars? Looks awful, but honestly, I really don't care for the 2 seconds they're visible. If anything, I'm GLAD they're visible at least
-
I wasnt able to look up the manufacturer from the IBM site as well even with the correct FRU#. Download a software called PC Wizard 2007. It'll list your displays' exact model number. From there you can just google it.
The OSD's arent that bad. They're basic and plain, yes, but they function. Now if lenovo will make the brightness OSD compatible with the igfx driver, then i will be a happy camper. -
A lot better than a friends gateway OSD that is in the top left hand corner and about the size of a quarter.
I'll take the so called "hideous" OSD over something like that...
Do you have an appealing OSD that you are comparing it to? If so, which one? -
Actually, my first laptop didn't even have on screen displays. I think in general, most on screen displays are ugly. How hard would it be to make something somewhat aesthetically pleasing?
-
then type in the type...which is the model number with out the letters...for example..mine is 6465...then go to the original status page of ure order and it should list the serial number once it has shipped...type both into that page above and you have ure part numbers! -
Run regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IBM\TPHOTKEY\OnScreenDisplay.
Color controls the color of the icon and bar. The format is BBGGRR in hexadecimal. If you wanted it to be 100% blue, you'd set it to FF0000.
Font is the font of the numbers. -
Also, someone said to mention an OSD that looks nice. I hate bringing Apple into this, but I had a Macbook Pro for three weeks and the On Screen Indicators looked sexy. -
It's funny you mention that though, I would expect Apple to have everything visually appealing while business notebooks have functionality over appeal. As long as it gets the job done for whatever seconds you're using it then its fine.
Anyone else think the onscreen displays are hideous?
