My compaq is slowly driving me insane with the constant cycling of the fan. I could understand it if I ran it all day but it cycles ON even after only 5 mins of usage ! Anyway, my father-in-law has an IBM and I was amazed at how quiet it was although it did "crash" from time to time - don't remember the model #. I read this about the R61- "The coolest and quietest R series notebook with a 14.1” widescreen and a thinner, lighter design for enhanced mobility. " The three things that stand out for me are 1. COOL (I hope they mean temperature-wise and not hipster-wise) 2. QUIET 3. 14.1" widescreen.

Does anyone own the R61? And if so, which configurations would you recommend? Btw, I read the review of it at pcmag dot com and it seemed very good ! They compared it to the T61 without WAN

runs the same as my T61, and if i was scientific about it, id say its cooler because the 2 R61s I have, have the integrated graphics while my T61 has the140m. Neither machine has yet to kick on a high speed fan that i would consider loud. On the lap, neither get too hot. in short, i dont really notice the heat compared to my past machines. Both the R and T have a near identical design and in the top left corner, they have a great cooling fin design (both on the side and back)

Thanks...hopefully, the AMEX tailormade $300 off lenovo will happen soon as I set them to remind me :D I'll get whichever one is a better deal....if less than $200 difference, I'd probably opt for the T series..

Klinger - I sent you a PM but dang, did I take that photo of your white horse?!? That would be zany
