I've heard even P6200 models can be upgraded to i3, i5, i7. Was wondering if anyone here has done that, what it was like to do, if they found it a good upgrade or whether didn't matter much b/c other components were bottlenecks, what kind of market there was for the old CPU, etc. I probably won't do it, but who knows, maybe - was just kind of curious. Any info appreciated.

My guess, having never seen a G560, would be that it's doable, but not worth it.

The chipset is compatible, but I believe there is a BIOS whitelist on Core i series processors in the G560, some NBR member tried it and got no POST with a known good processor.

Also may want this thread moved into the IdeaPad subforum to get more views.

I upgraded mine from the original P6200 to a core i5-480m. Over a couple of months of use there have been absolutely no problems. I also increased the RAM to 8 gb, and installed a 500gb hybrid drive. Its a really nice machine.

Do you have a CPU-Z validation link? I was under the impression that new Pentium dual cores on HM55 aren't upgradable to Core i series processrs.
