Can anybody comment on the Z510 with respect to keyboard flex, ridigity, build. This laptop would be for a 16 year old who can be tough on it at times.

Does anybody have the 1920 x 1080 screen which is the one I would be getting?

    Thanks,

4 hours of low load surfing. Z500 has 3.5 hours in the review, though Haswell is known to improve battery life, so i assume you could get an extra hour from that alone. Also disable bluetooth when not using it, it will give you an extra 30 mins.

I have a laptop with the same CPU and a similar size battery and i get 4:30 ish when doing office work and web surfing (non video).

Both the Z510 and the HP 15t-J100 have the same capacity battery, so you will get probably the same battery life from both. Do you have the i7 or i5 model? The i5 only has 2 cores so that alone is an extra 30-60 minutes.

It's hard to get a good reading on battery life because it depends on usage.

Thanks for the info. How is keyboard flex? Does the laptop have a nice built quality to it? It is for my 16 year old son who can be occasionally rough--although hopefully that's improving with time!

So I just got the Z510 a few mins ago. And I did the boot-up, went through settings, updates etc then I realized that the touch pad was not working at all. Like AT ALL. It was shipped with windows 8 as well so I have to do the upgrade myself which will be okay if the wireless on the laptop was strong. Instead there were only 2 bars compared to full 5 bars on the Envy 15t which does not have the best wireless card ever. Also that thing is huge and heavy. As you see next to the Envy, how big it really is even though it's only 1 inch thick. (this might worry me a little since I am thinking of getting the Asus N550Jv which is 1.09in thick). The screen is a little brighter than that of the Envy but they are all freaking TNs. Nuffsaid. I am returning this thing right away. It is not for me anyway.

F6 or Fn F6 enables/disables the touchpad. Just wanna point that out.

I also thought my touchpad failed once, but it was my buddy who pressed Fn-F6 to troll me...

As for the heavyness, the ASUS N550JV is even heavier. Good luck with that.

Also, do me a favor. Open device manager, locate your card and tell me the driver version. Are you on W8 or W8.1?

It's running win 8 alright. I didn't have to check because I was looking at the Windows experience index when I went to system which has been removed from win 8.1 but still I took a picture of it here.
