I received my 'repaired' notebook today (Thinkpad W500), and as well as being scratched up from a sloppy repair, it was also covered in fingerprints and smells like some flowery hand lotion. Not just the outside, but when the fan comes on it really smells bad (at least to me). Has anybody else experienced this? I figured they would wear gloves when they worked on these things. Heck, I wash my hands before using it, let alone replacing a planar.

I was told to send it in again and they would have it repaired by another facility. I really don't know how they're going to get it back the way it was before it was sent in, but they claim they can. Am I the only one that would be bothered by this?

    Thanks,

Definitely not. It's a pity there are so many people working at service stations with absolutely no sense of how to handle others property.

if you have the chance, try taking it to a local authorized repair shop. I've had a screen replaced and the bezel was returned to me scratched. I complained to lenovo and they sent me to a local facility to have it replaced.

the first one sucked, but the second facility was great and I stick with them from now on. They understand how the little things matter and I also get better updates on my repair status

It really is a shame. You can't send anything in for repair without worrying about the condition it will be in upon its return.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a shot for the next repair.
