    Hi folks,

was just wondering, if somebody already did that and asked if you can get the CTO T61 with International warranty and how much it costs. Im abroad right now, cant call there for hours...always takes so long :/

Yes, I did. You have to deal with another department to which they will transfer you. After on-hold there for awhile, the phone disconnected.

I was told by lenovo that international warranty is very expensive on the T61. International warranty was generally included in the 60-series. This is a huge setback for anyone who ever travels abroad, or wants to sell their laptop to someone in another country.

Well some dealers do have the T61 with International Warranty if you use the lookup for example the model 7659 but the prices are much worse than lenovo directly.

Perhaps the reason Lenovo is getting stingier with International warranties is to discourage people selling their Thinkpads outside the US and making a tidy little profit.

The 7659CTO can be ordered from Lenovo directly. I did so through my alumni account. I don't know whether it's IWS (will check later), but I thought the only difference between 7658CTO and 7659CTO is the length of the warranty. 7659 is 3 years.
