Any way to know the screen manufacturer before T61 is shipped?

Somewhere on this forum, some guy said that unless you wanted to take the chance with any screen, you could always "keep cancelling" until you got something good.

That implies there is a way to know whether the screen is an LG or Samsung before it gets sent off.. I don't buy it.

Also, another person posted about how they had a Samsung, but hadn't opened the box yet.

So is there any way to know? Parts list? Serial number? I know it won't be right after ordering, but perhaps before the shipment is getting ready?

Look at the ThinkPad Sticky in my signature for the answer.

I do not believe you can look up who made your LCD until it does ship - at which point you will be charged for the amount on your order, and you will be given a Serial #. With this serial number you can go onto Lenovo's website and look up what are the FRU#s for your particular laptop. However, this has changed recently I believe, as you can no longer do this from what I have heard. You are always welcome to probably call them and try asking them that way.

these are just part numbers, what you have to do is enter your serial number into the link provided in the sticky and this will return you the FRU numbers. This is what you will need to determine what mfg made your parts.

So I won't know until I get a serial number? I guess I'll hope for the best.

Is there any way to decode what the item number is and what panel it refers to? My father cracked his screen and I need to replace it. Here is his item number:

    42V9323 SBB 14.1 WXGA TFT,W/OCAM.

Also, there is no link on playmaker's signature. Please post it on this thread for other people.

    Thanks!
