    Any way to clean install W8 on the y500?

    Is there a guide around here that shows you how to clean install windows 8 without using a disc or anything on the y500? I want my computer clean as possible before going any further with it and uninstalling bloatware doesn't seem to clear everyhing, i notice it still leaves traces behind in places. Since i'm going to be using it to play games i don't want all the unnecessary stuff to bog down performance later on.

    Yeah I've been reading that thread...

    my main issue right now is trying to obtain a compatible windows 8 ISO file...I'm trying the Windows 8 installer that the IT guy in the Y500 Owners thread linked to. I keep getting an error message from the installer saying that it "can't connect to the internet right now." I've tried both the generic serial and a couple retail ones that I found online...

    This is frustrating as heck...

    Downloading a Windows 8 Upgrade ISO with a generic key is your best bet to get clean installation media short of buying another Windows 8 license. You need to figure out what's wrong because it works for everybody else. Make sure you follow the instructions here so that your Upgrade installation media is UEFI-bootable:
