So I'm thinking about getting an Ideapad Y530. Are there any problems that you guys notice when using it?

Does it have a loud fan?
    Does it stay hot?
    Is the touchpad good?
I have also heard it's a little heavy?

Just want to be confident with my purchase. Thanks.

    I just bought one yesterday.....

i cannot hear the fan even at full load. super quiet machine
it is cool, except for a small area next to the touch pad when connected to the outlet. once on battery and power saving it is barely warm...
    touchpad is great!
Heavy compared to what? i don't think it is heavy for what it is..it is very sturdy by the way...

note: it seems that ones manufactured after February come in all black, no brushed aluminum palm rest (the ones with the nvidia cards, not sure about the Intel graphics)

My GF just received her Y530 2 weeks ago. Seems like a solid notebook, decent display, good cooling. She got one with integrated graphics and not the Nvidia graphics though. Surprisingly, it isn't too much more bulkier than my T400 with the 6 cell battery.

Overall, she got it for 630ish and at that price range it is an unbelievable deal/value.

I just bought my second one. They are great, I agree with everyone above, VERY solid, great keyboard (solid as a rock), great looking, fantastic LED screen, and sweet 5 speaker dolby sound system. Touch sensitive media buttons work great unlike the Dell Studio 15's...plus price is right. If you need a good mouse I just got the Lenovo N10, really nice size, price, stow able small usb dongle, plug and play in seconds. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN THE Y530.

I've have the Y430, the one with the nVidia discrete graphics card. This is a very nice laptop. Very solid build, firm keyboard but with excellent key feel. The screen is glossy but it is very usable in most all conditions. The built-in wireless-N is extremely solid in my home. I have Windows Vista Home Preimum 64-bit with 4GB of DDR-3 memory which, after getting rid of some bloatware, is super fast. There is a strange loud beep when you plug-in and unplug the power cord for some reason. And, for some reason, the Y430 doesn't come with Bluetooth.

I really like my Y430 and really happy with what I bought.
