I'm looking for good battery life, relatively light, quad core, good quality. The p51 seems to meet these criteria but I'm not seeing any reviews - any owners posting pros and cons here?

    Thanks

There's one just posted on the German notebookcheck page. A translated version is usually later posted on the English page, but it's not there yet.

I've had my P51 for a few weeks now. Not sure if it's by design or just a bad cooling fan install but my CPUs have been hitting 95+ degrees C when really pushed and thermal throttling kicks in:

For some reason the Core i7s don't seem to be having the thermal issues like the Xeons as indicated in the above review links. I've opted for an exchange as the temps are getting a bit too close to the 100 deg limit for me and there's also cluster of dead pixels on the screen. I should be getting the replacement around July 12.

I have a thinkpad p51 and the hottest the cpu is getting is about 85 C. Right now it is 82 C but I am encoding a video. The 960 pro 2 TB drive rocks in this laptop. I have the core I7 cpu with 64 GB's of ram.

    I own P51, 4K display, 16GB RAM, 512SSD, M2200 4GB, and 7820HQ - two additional upgrades: 2nd m.2 tray + 4yrs On-Site Warranty.
I will probably prepare some User Review - if there will be interest. For now I can say:
    A) Laptop is slick (compared to Dell's E6530) I dare say slim, but it is on the heavy side (not to mention PSU)
    B) CPU reach 80C, 82C max and GPU reached 59C - thermals (knock on the wood) are good now
    C) Windows 1709 update brought good 4K calling
    D) Trinus and PSVR work and SteamVR works on PSVR on this :) - funny thing I didn't had XBOX controller to play nor HTC wands ... lol
When it is medium-loaded it does work 4h max, but coding, web-surfing etc multi-tasking stuff - reached 6h easily. Screen is very good, calibration works, but screen is on the 'darker side' - I do have Retina 15" to compare, and this is like 12th notch per 15 notches on Retina. I would say that Retina's max settings are 15% more than max of this 4K screen. It's base is magnesium, it feels solid, but top is finger-f##-magnet and I mean it ...reaaallyyy. It is just not to thick, not as slim - exactly in the middle (as I suspected) and it works, combined 4 vents and two fans do their job. According to HWmonitor clocks (even on balanced power plan) continuously reach 3800GHz and fall even to 1199MHz. Very dynamically. I will post photos and larger review if needed. Post questions, what you would want to check etc.

Took delivery of mine earlier this week, but havent had too much time to mess around with it, other than to do a clean install. Hoping to really throw some work at this thing over the long weekend.

I guyz , i m looking at this baby for pro audio use , can anybody around runs a latency mon test on its units , it will measure the system latency and see if your system is not interrupted by bad latency conusming stuff ...you will'have to run the test for a certain time ... also wifi enableb and then another disabled , since wifi is known to ask for cpu cycles time to time ...

    Thks friends

Chris , waiting for your review !!

I think Lenovo may have fixed the cooling issues after the initial batches. Mine will max out at 82 degrees C for the CPU (Xeon 1535M). Apart from a bluescreen due to an outdated Intel graphics driver I have been happy with it. I wanted the P71 with its Pascal graphics to game a bit on, but the P51 with screen digitizer was essential for my uses. I just got a Sonnet eGPU for it, so I will see how that goes.

Yep i've read it , basically years ago i email you guyz trying to make you consider Audio Pro in your reviews ,and add DPC latency , emphasis in noise emmision and latency mon ...witch was systematically done soon after , so for that i can't be enougth thankfull ...that said , the results varies a lot from what i can test on my own , basically my take on this like a tell my students is : if latency mon is ok, , go for it , if not that deosn't mean truth ...

So going back on the P51 , i have a friend that tested the P50 and it's full green , and according to notebookcheck , the P51 isn't no more suited for audio / real time streaming , that's why i come over here to ask several people and the sinthesis the results !!

I tested the MSI for exemple on saturday witch is exelennt in this aspect ,

Another thing that i would love to see in test procedure is a WPrime half of the core to simuate a 50 % load , switch to intel GPU , and thermal results and emission in this scenarios witch is cloes to running the laptop on a real DAW scenarios during mixing ...

    Thks
