I would like to get a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) pixels Thinkpad in the future, but it has to be the latest Thinkpad available (possibly the W500).
Does anyone knows if the W510 would be 16:9 (1920x1080) pixels or still 16:10?

I think that's one of the main questions for all the workstations that are getting refreshed soon. The first one is the Dell M6500 which kept the 16:10 ration but that's a 17". I hope they will make the same choice for the 15,4" lappies.

I guess unless this information leaks we won't get an answer (there seems to be a "no info on future products"-policy at forums.lenovo.com).
Seeing the SL510 getting a 16:9 panel gave me headaches... maybe we should buy now before it's too late. :-( -

we had collected some of the rumours and leaks. And it looks like the W510 has some 15.6 full HD whatever crap screen, i.e. most likely "1080p" 16:9.
If thats really true, I guess the day those come out a number of people (including me) will try and get a fully loaded W500 WUXGA. -

Seems I would need to get a loan for 2010.

I too am waiting to see what happens, if the thinkpads and elitebooks all got 16:9, I think i'm going to buy now.

I don't see the point of "stocking up" on the 16:10 screens. At some point we will all have to get used to them if that is going to become the new standard. All the manufactures are really at the mercy of the LCD makers, which there are only a few of.

Before the present 15.4" 1920X1200 "standard" WUXGA we had the 15" 1600X1200 "standard" UXGA. Maybe the next generation "standard" will be 15.4" 1920X1080? All are niche products serving a similar need - all of excellent PPI - from 133 to 147 to 143. 15.4" 1920X1080 will still be a PPI closer to the present 15.4" WUXGA than to the present 17" WUXGA/1920X1200 (133 PPI). At least the new screens should be (one would hope) LED; and brighter. I have noticed little working difference moving from 133 to 147 PPI.
Any idea when WUXGA display (16:10) will dissapear.
