Allow me to apologize in advance. i could not find anything relevant to what i was looking for.

Has anyone found any good, reliable Ultrabay Sata2 knockoffs? The official Lenovo part is $50-60, and i think ill feel guilty if i go ahead any buy it without seeing any cheaper, just-as-good alternatives

A second question I have concerns where i should place my SSD.

I currently have an SSD that's situated in the main bay. When I get the ultrabay container, im considering swapping locations, placing my HDD in the main rollcage bay, and the SSD in the ultrabay. This is due to the assumption that I dont need to worry about SSD damage nearly as much compared to a harddisk

are there any known problems using an ultrabay as a main drive?

(yes i know its formally called an ultrabay slim)
again, sorry, and thanks in advance

All the ones I found on eBay today were still like $40.

Ended up paying $60 for authentic off Amazon. I feel your pain man.

I remember paying 20 for mine about 2 months ago off ebay. It performs fine for me (I stuck a 250gb 5400rpm Samsung in it). The unit however came with screws that I have no idea where they might be used on the caddy. It also had this plastic piece attached to it that I cant find a purpose for either.

Can't answer your question entirely as havent tried to boot off the caddy. But for me personally I have a SSD in the main roll cage caddy and the data drive in the caddy
