I plan to buy this notebook. I've read some reviews for it but I still can't make my decision. Are there any user reviews for the lenovo 3000 N100?

How's the quality of the N100 compare to other notebook of the same class. In many N100 reviews, they say the quality is not up to bar with a Thinkpad and it's more like a consumer's laptop with cheap plastic and such.

The vibrantview is standard on the V100 but do you have to pay more for the N100? Can you read the screen outdoor? How's the regular matte screen on the N100?

    Thank you

The cage on it is seemed stiff, but the case is plastic with all its inherent limitations. I think it is pretty decent for the class, but it is a lower cost so it is not gonna be like a Z61m or even a d820. I thought the screen was pretty good though I only saw the glossy WSXGA+ screen. Like most laptops, it is probably going to be difficult to read outside in daylight. I really like something like the HP dv6000, but the no WSXGA screen is kind of a turn off for me.

I recently purchased an N100 and honestly I couldn't be happier. Indeed the computer does have a plastic housing, but does make the unit lighter.

Some of the more promising notes are that it uses some of the ThinkPad software and diagnostics. Additionally, I've always liked the ThinkPad keyboards and this model does included, at least in IMHO, one of the best keyboards around. I beleive that they use/used the same keyboard manufactuer because its really close to the ThinkPad ones. The only exception being the that it does not have the pointing stick that the ThinkPads have.

To sweeten the deal further, Lenovo is offering a $100.00 rebate on certain N100 models. So for around $800 I got a Core Duo proc, Gig of RAM, 80GB HD, 14.1in screen, fingerprint reader, bluetooth, ABG WiFi, plus a slew of other goodies.

No real complaints yet, the system does run cool with a noticeable warm spot over the left palm rest (which by the way is over where the HD sits).
