Anyone have an experience removing or reducing the appearance of a scratch on the plastic of the T61 (or other models)?

What bezel section has the scratch? Is it the rubbery painted feeling part, or material similar to the palm rest?

Material similar to the palm rest. Top left corner just to the side of the screen.

How deep is the scratch? I use novus plastic cleaner ( 3 parts depending on how bad the blemish is) on various imperfections I come across, but the textured plastic might end up looking worse than the scratch itself if polished away. Sometimes you end up with a really glossy blob that stands out like a sore thumb.

Could you grab a picture if the damage? Depending on the spot, the replacement part might cost less than the expensive plastic cleaners. I have ~24 bucks into 2 bottles of the stuff.

What about removing a scratch in the Thinkpad lid? I don't imagine that the plastic cleaner you are referring to would work well on the lid material (rubbery plastic).
