Ok, this is a long story but telling it to someone will make me feel better.
First, I ordered a T61 on 5/9 but cancelled my order when it was delayed to 8/31. Enough said.
As a result, I ordered a Z61t on 6/5 as I had found a coupon for an extra 15% off and was able to configure a system to very similar specs to the T61, minus the Santa Rosa and Turbo memory. Then a week later, I saw that Lenovo was offering a WXGA+ screen option for the Z61t, so I called them to make the change to my order. I called them and they said they could make the change and that I would appear on my order within 5 business days. Well, I waited and waited a little longer but the change never appeared. So today I called them about it and was told "It looks like your entire order will not ship, we can make a transition, in which your configuration will be put in another laptop at no extra charge." At first I thought, this is crap because I ordered the Z61t and was never given any indication that I would not get it. Then I figured, heck, if I can get a T60 for the same price, why not. Next, I was put on hold only to find out that doing such a transition would have to be approved by the finance dept. I asked how long this would take and she said she didn't know. Then I asked if they would charge me the extra price if it was decided that such a transition was not do-able. She said "yes, we may end up charging you more." At that point I just told them to cancel my order. GAHHH
I really want a Lenovo, but am sick of the shipping/ordering problem. Is anyone getting their T61's and do you think there will be a good 4th of July sale?

well, as we all well know by now, their ordering/shipping system sucks. best thing to do anytime you want a change is to cancel, and repurchase. you will not save any time by converting, it'll probably even go longer!

i ordered T61 via employee site 2 days ago, est. ship date is still August 9...thought it would be sooner....sigh

Did they tell you why "your entire order will not ship"? What does it mean?

Does estimated ship date mean nothing to you guys?
Mine was "estimated" to ship 6/27 but it ended up shipping 6/13. All the dates are just randomly made and do not really mean that much, the only thing to watch for is the actual ship date...that is your indication to get excited and know your laptop is on its way. -
Take a ticket, stand in line.

I'm just ordering on the 4th and waiting it out. I'm not going to do the canceling and shipping date dance with them.
I feel a bit sorry for them though, with people ordering and getting a insane estimated shipping date then they panic, cancel their order and then reorder. Probably confusing to them, but really, if they want more market share in America then they have to put up with it. -
I'm going to guess they are working out some problems (bios, others) and have to fix these before they ship things out or the machines will just be returned.
Sent mine off for a fix (failed bios). Someone posted a link to the lenovo site with a bios update dated the day after mine arrived. -
I wasnt given a reason my Z61t wouldnt ship.
