    Anyone know how i can stop the beeps coming from thinkpads?

    especially the fan error beep that I get when I boot up the laptop...

    I kno the fan is dieing but i just can't get it fixed right now and in school it is very annoyin and it pisses the teacher off :mad:...

    Any ideas are welcome (except replacing the fan :))

    Have you looked into BIOS under alarm? And Power Management?

    you can't take that away i believe, those beeps are like warning or alerts that you cannot do specific actions (multiple letter presses, not in window typing etc...)

    It is possible to remove it. Posted by Wiz over at ThinkPads.com:

    In Device Manager choose View-Show Hidden Devices from the menu, under Non-Plug and Play Devices disable Beep. Not sure if you have to reboot to make it active, but that should remove the annoying beep.

    Worked like a charm for me. :)

    Edit: I do believe you need to reboot for it to have an effect.

    Chaosrl... Didn't try ur idea... THANKS ALOT THOUGH!!! instead I wiped out windows xp and installed windows 2000... The thing can run @ 90c and it won't beap no more :D...

    I will definately get this old laptop of mine fixed up though =)...
