With the Anniversary sale ending today and most likely nothing left in the Outlet, I would choose the latter. But before I do here are the specifications I chose and price of what I am thinking of ordering.

    Thinkpad T61p
    15.4 Widescreen
    Intel 2.2Ghz 4mb L2 cache
3Gbs of RAM: (1 SODIMM from Lenovo another 2Gb Hynix I can buy for $25 on Ebay)
    Nvidia Quadro FX 570M 256mbs
    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
    Intel Turbo Memory
    DVD-ROM 8x Max, Ultrabay Slim
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi (Read according to some here that it is Atheros, true?)
    Integrated Bluetooth
    9 Cell Battery
2 Year Depot Upgrade with 2 Year ThinkPad Protection

    Total: $1,528.69

Mind you my current notebook is a MSI MS-1029 bought new with changes including 100GB 5400rpm hardrive and Atheros Wifi card (no bluetooth) and now 2Gbs of RAM. This laptop has cost me including repairs and upgrades over the past 2.5 years about $1,542 and it only came with a 1 year factory warranty because I was dumn enough to buy it off of an individual on Ebay. I don't want to make the same mistake of getting ripped off again.

But some in another thread claimed they called yesterday and a reprisentatives told them that all T series were sold out.

I now have learned it takes some convincing to the representatives to even put some effort into looking up. But based on my experience trying to order from the last Outlet sale, at the end of August or beginning of October, they usually get sold out within a few days if not less.

I don't really care if the screen is 14 or 15' LCD, the main thing I care about when it comes to features is a fully compatible with DX10 discrete GPU, 128 or 256mbs does not really matter. But it just seems to me when buying new the price difference between the two are relatively small. The reason I am attracted to Lenovo aside from build quality, performance and current pricing is their straight forward Bill Me Later policy. :D

Well then.. that is going to be one hell of a computer. I'm thrilled with my T61 and wouldn't trade it for anything. Enjoy it, they are great machines :D
