It comes with a 4 cell battery. That's an extra $120 for an 8 cell battery, which makes the total $1094 for a refurb. Is it still a good deal?

No. It is not a good deal. For that price, you can get a new C2D machine, 1GB ram, and a larger hard drive. A new machine would also have a full warranty, and would be new.

I don't know if you can specifically get a TP X60 for that price, but I know there are at least five brands that have better configs for the same price, or a hare bit more.
