I want to buy a laptop during a visit to Switzerland. But i have an issue: knowing that the laptop has Windows Vista in French (bleah), doest that mean that the keyboard layout could also be different that standard QWERTY US?

Yes, the keyboard will be different to accommodate the French accent marks. However, it is very easy to order a new keyboard and change it out yourself. The Lenovo site lists all the various types, including US qwerty.
