Looking for the right model for my wife.

    Excellent battery life a must
    Small and light weight
    floppy drive not needed
DVD rom would be nice, but can live without it.
    Must be Windows XP OS
Ability to use for presentations on laptop and via projector.
Strongly prefer built in Verzon WWAN

    Uses
    Internet
    Email
    Act! / Goldmine
    Full Office Suite

What Lenovo model would you recommend. And are you aware of any special promotions right now?

    Thanks!

If you can wait til next month, the new X series are coming which may be worth consideration.

the current X61 (or x61s) is a great option. my girlfriend has one because she had similar preferences, and she loves it.

it's really nice and small, it has a 12 inch screen, but a full-size keyboard. the battery life is excellent (6-ish hours with the extended battery). you can also get it with the WWAN thing you mentioned.

the downsides to consider are: no touchpad (it only has the nipple mouse thing), no cd/dvd drive, no webcam.

as the previous poster mentioned, there are rumors that a new model will be introduced soon that will be slightly bigger, but will integrate the touchpad, cd/dvd drive, and webcam. but be warned, it might take more than a month for them to come out.

Thanks for the input. The X series looks like a really nice fit for her and I even found one on the Lenovo outlet. But I always hear about all these crazy good deals using CPP and other various discounts.

Is anyone aware any special discounts? Outlet pricing is ok, but not amazing.

I could wait a month, thats not really a problem as she has my old Dell Latitude to use in the mean time.

xpBargains is a good cite for information on pricing history so you know when it is relatively low. Looks like about $800 using coupons for the X61.

The x300 which come next month looks to be pretty special, Everything the MacBook Air was supposed to be, but wasn't. It's not cheap though. MSRP is supposed to be north of $2k. That's probably without WWAN. You can check out the specs here.
