I want to buy this mini dock for my R61:

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BYA5NC?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=yahoo-ce-20&linkCode=asn

I am about to leave for college, and Im highly considering just biting the bullet and buying this mini dock for my new R61. Of course space is an issue in a dorm room, and this dock looks small. I have an altec lansing speakers and sub that i will be using with my laptop, and the audio port is in the front of my computer. I hate having the cable constantly in sight and in the way. I have a printer that needs to be connected to my computer, and also a portable hard drive. I might connect a wireless mouse at some point too. I just need to easily connect to all my acessories, and to easily disconnect.

I know that amazon says it will fit the R61 lineup, but i just want to make sure this will fit my computer?

It looks like the mini dock makes it more ergonomic buy angling the keyboard a bit, but how do i keep my laptop from getting to warm, since i can no longer use a cooling fan?

Does the cheaper lenovo port replicator suit my needs? I do not think the port replicator has a video port for my speakers.

I might suggest turning to ebay to find that dock. I picked min up for about 100 bucks refurbished. The thing is compatible with 14 and 15" models in the T6x, R6x, R400, R500, T400, T500, etc.

I don't understand your concern. The laptop's ventilation is not blocked when using this dock; it's designed to be used with Thinkpads in a business setting where the system is used 8-10 hrs a day every workday for years.

My laptop gets airly warm with normal use. Like if i touch the bottom its not hot hot, but it is warm. While its on my lap i use a targus cooling fan. I wouldnt want it to get too warm while on the dock.

How warm it gets depends on what you're doing. I have my T61p on the dock pretty much full time. Gets hot when gaming, but is fine during other use.

Im confused on what the differences are between the port replicator and the mini dock. Does the replicator charge my battery while its plugged into the port replicator like the mini dock does?
