The other day I "bumped into" a menu where I could change the color of the screen display of the speaker volume (the speaker sign and |||||||| indicator of volume displayed at bottom of screen), the brightness, and Thinklight. The factory default is bright green. Now I can't locate where I got that. Does anyone know? I think you can also adjust how long you want the indicator to stay on the screen.

Another thing I once "bumped into" and have been unable to find it again is where you can adjust for how long you want the Operating System screen display to stay upon boot up. Does anyone know where is it?

    Thank you!

Mine is under Thinkpad Config->Display->On Screen Display (X31).

Sorry, is that the "Device configuration" in ThinkVantage? There is a Display setting but it doesn't include such thing.

Are you clicking the Display drop down menu from the top of the program?

    To clarify: [IMG]

Thanks for the picture. The problem is, how do I get this window (Thinkpad configuration)?
(and btw I don't think I've seen this window before)

It should be under the ThinkVantage folder within the start menu. You may have to download it either from System Update or Lenovo's site. This is how it is on my X31 so your Thinkpad may be different.

There is no configuartion for colors in Thinkpad.
If you load thinkpad monitor driver appropriately, you can see picture below, and the color should be very right for you LCD.

The other way, you can buy a color calibarator to have "actual" color.

I see where you got the window. My dropdown box from Start Menu-->Programs-->ThinkVantage does not have "Thinkpad Configuration", though there are many other items such as System Update, EasyEject... I don't know if it was there before or not. Funny it doesn't seem like I bumped into the color settings in this way.

iqcar, you don't think you found it by going through thinkvantage? I have been doing some searching but haven't come across anything. Do you have any idea how you found it? Through the control panel maybe?

I've searched Control Panel to death but it doesn't seem to be the right place. I may have got it either through ThinkVantage, or by simply right clicking somewhere, but as I posted above, I can't get the Thinkpad Configuration that dj2005 got--do you have that in your ThinkVantage? The Thinkpad configuration looks like a nice thing.

Nope I don't have that thing that dj2005 has. It does look useful.

Hmm, maybe it is only available on the older Thinkpads? I'm still a newbie when it comes to these things so I cannot provide any more information. However, the program is quite useful indeed. :) Does System Update yield no results?

I found it! :D :D Looks like I hadn't searched the control panel to death. Here:

Control Panel-->Display-->Settings-->Advanced-->On top of the screen of Advanced is a tab "On Screen Display". Voilà! (using the keyboard tip I just learned :) ).

Thanks dj2005 for your patience :) I still would like to have that Thinkpad Configuration, though.

No problem and I'm glad you found it. You can check Lenovo's site for the program but System Update should download it automatically for you if it is compatible.

The other thing is yet to be found: to adjust how long the OS display screen will stay (i.e. the "Windows XP" or "Windows Vista" in full screen on bootup). I don't remember how I got it.

The thinkpad configuration utility was included in the pre-load but now I don't have it and cannot seem to find it on Lenovo's website. It is not listed in the software/driver matrix for the X61
