I have a T42 2379DXU and have 512mb of RAM. Does another 512mb of additional RAM make a huge difference? Also although crucial makes it easy to identify which module I need, I am thinking of ordering from newegg. The problem is newegg doesn't have a search engine that matches the module with the notebook. What specs should I be looking for other than 200 pin, DDR PC2700, and 333mhz? Thanks.

Put one of these in my T42, works great:

Hey umm I'm getting a T42 soon and it only comes with 256 ram. I was looking at you link zazonz and I think I'll buy that. I was wondering if installing memory on a laptop is something anyone can do....It isn't too complicated...right? I have installed memory sticks in my desktop before and know you have to watch out for static and stuff. Can you reassure me it isn't that hard to do? thanks

It is not hard to do. Take panel off on the underside, put in memory and replace panel. Thats it.

You can just press Access IBM and search for instructions on how to install the RAM.

It took me 2 minutes at most, and I am a person who knows nothing much about computer hardware too.
