If you did I would buy it from Lenovo. That decision was made long ago and you risk voiding the warranty. Think about it if you replaced the engine in you car and brought it back to the dealer would they agree to honor the warranty?

So has the webcam been added to the x200s wxga CCFL and LED screens successfully? I don't much care about the antenna (2 vs 3) unless someone can tell me why I should care about this.

I believe that a mod can be done because in the UK x200s units can be ordered with a webcam if you get the wxga 1280x800 resolution.
So earlier thoughts about all LED screens being too thin don't seem to be accurate, but yes it seems that the 1440x900 led screen can't be outfitted with a webcam (no source for this info).

    Has anyone modded theirs?

Unless I am mistaken, the X200s with the WXGA screen uses the same screen assembly as the X200 (basically, half the laptop is the same), which is why a webcam can be added. I do not think the WXGA+ screen can have a webcam added into it.

I heard that ThinkPads webcams are of crappy quality so I decided not to add one to my thinkpad.

Well it depends on your use. For Skype and general video conferencing it does just fine.

Sure you can find better webcams from dedicated webcam manufacturers like Logitech, but then you would need to carry around another piece of equipment (however small it is).

For me it is a huge advantage to have a built in web cam and an ultraportable at the same time, as I travel extensively and Skype every day.

makes sense, never saw the WXGA+/cam option for any Lenovo build. that's the dealbreaker for me.
