I just picked up a new t420 and 160GB Intel SSD
I was wondering about adding some more storage and what would you recommend. How many drives can I mount?

I'm not sure if i'm right, but there should be space for 3:
    -mSATA
-Your normal SATA where your 160GB SSD is
    -Ultrabay Adapter

I'm not too sure about the mSATA though.

Unless you want/need WWAN, I'd say the mSATA + HDD in the main bay is the way to go.

    For example, this one:

But, if you already have the 160GB Intel SSD primary drive, consider adding a 500GB, 750GB or 1TB HDD with an UltraBay caddy.

It depends on your storage needs. For 1TB capacity:

    • SAMSUNG Spinpoint M8 HN-M101MBB 1TB
    • Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD10TPVT 1TB

Most drives won't fail, but one thing I would say in favor of WD is they have the easiest return policy. If you give them you CC, they'll ship you out a replacement drive right away and you can mail the old one back once you get the new one. Most other manufacturers require you to send the defective drive in before getting a replacement, which takes a couple days.

If I were going to get a mSATA drive, I'd get this if 60GB works for you. If you click the Air vs X220 link in my signature, you can see a picture of the mSATA in my X220i.

why did you merge my reply in between the OP's question and "bomb" expression?

There are other less expensive mSATA SSDs like this.
