Hello again! I have become addicted to the thinkpad line of notebooks and I'm looking to see what you guys think of this notebook. It is an R61 type 8933 with a T8100 processor and according to the ebay listing, it is a 15.4 inch widescreen at what seems to be a pretty good price of $295. I may can get it for a little less. So I guess what I'm looking to see is what you guys think of this particular notebook? Hearst555, Zaz, Lead org and any of you in this forum, tell me what you think..lol
    Thanks in advance!

The R61 is a solid notebook, i'm actually typing on a R61e at the moment for work and it hasn't faultered. Just like its T-series sibling it has stainless steel hinges and the wonderful solid backplated keyboards on these models. What's the full spec of the system since $295 is a decent deal. The T8100 is a good processor and it runs very cool under the 15.4" chassis using stock compound (32c at the moment for me). Be wary if it comes with the NVIDIA Quadro chips as under this generation they can be prone to failure due to the faulty soldering.

I'd ask if it's got the nVidia GPU? If it does, pass. An extra $75 gets you this if you're an R series devotee. That's if you're looking for suggestions.

Thanks! Yes I'm waiting on a reply from to seller to see what kind of chip that is in it. From what I have read in here, if it has the Nvidia chip in it, I'm going to run not walk away from this deal..Lol

I'm always open for suggestions as I respect you're opinion. Each question I have asked on here, you, Hearst555 and lead org have always responded with vet useful information and also some other members in here as well. By the way that R500 looks pretty nice.

I guess it depends on what you're planning to do with it.

Personally, the phrase "Addicted to thinkpads!" has about as much resonance with me as "Addicted to housebricks!" but I guess we all have different opinions :p

Using it for nothing too intense. Mostly browsing, streaming videos and music. I have been addicted to worse..Lol. I may have to sell some these I have or stop looking or my wife is gonna kill me.

I think I may hold off on the R61 with the 15 inch display. I'm more partial to the 14 inch for more portability. I may look at another T61 or T60. I just like to tinker with them. An expensive hobby I know.

Whats you're opinion on the Z61 models? I'm just looking to try different things.
Sorry if this needs to be in another thread. I will repost if necessary.

I don't need to close it, but there's no need for three posts in a row.
