I've searched through the W520 threads for this info and did not find it, so please forgive me if this has already been posted.

Could somebody actually weigh the W520 (with 9 cell battery) and report the weight?

Even if you don't have a kitchen or mailing scale, this could be done with a digital bathroom scale. Weigh yourself once or twice, then weigh yourself holding the laptop once or twice, subtract the difference...

I realize the digital bathroom scale method won't provide the same degree of accuracy as the other two scales, but some measurement is better than nothing.

I own one... yepp. I always played with the idea of going with it to the post office just to weight it. The feeling I have, it must be around 2.7Kg, but that's just my feeling. Nonetheless, a great machine (yeah, me bragging about my machine)

Definitely lighter than my T61 which was 6.6 lbs.

And light enough that a bathroom scale will tell you nothing.

    2840g

w520, 9-cell, FHD, non-RAID board, Nvidia 1000, 16GB RAM (4x 4GB modules), 750GB HDD Western Digital, DVD drive, one SD Card of 32GB, 80GB mSATA

I replaced the main SSD and the bay SATA HDD with a mechanical HDD and the original DVD drive for a more accurate weighting, too lazy to get the mSATA out as well.

Weighted at the local post office on an accurate(within 1g up to 3kg) and calibrated weighing machine as I picked up my new 300GB Intel 320.

6.26 pounds. Now I know why the T420s feels so much lighter. :D

Step on the scale with and without the laptop and subtract the difference. ;)

My bathroom scale tells me there's a 7lbs difference between me and me with my W520. :D

I have to admit I didn't think it would be that much though.
