I was just pricing an X230t and noticed that the priority+NBD+TPP option from the non-tablet X230 isn't there. For the non-tablet that package only costs $153 for 3yrs. But for the tablet there's only the onsite + accidental damage for $267(!), onsite ($125), priority onsite ($159), and the simple extension ($68).
It's disappointing that accidental damage protection costs $114 more. Is this just the reality of the warranty extension options for the tablet? Does anyone know if that package is the same as the non-tablet's priority+NBD+TPP options? (They're worded pretty differently.)

My assumption is that the higher price for TPP also comes from the fact that you're a lot more likely to accidentally damage a tablet. Something you carry around with you in your arms is a lot more likely to fall and get damaged. I can't answer the second part of your question, though.

Plus, they make a lot less tablets and there's more parts in there if something were to break. I would guess they're more expensive to fix if broken. They might have a better sale down the road, but they might not. It's hard to say with any certainty.

I mean, it provides the same service to the end user, but it's definitely a different part as far as Lenovo's concerned. And no, they won't apply a non-tablet service pack to a tablet or vice versa.
And I think ZaZ is probably right on the money; tablets are more scarce and the parts (often) are more expensive (the lid assembly is the obvious example of this.) -
usually the warranty cost are calculated like insurance premiums, which factors in things like:
1. cost of parts
2. labour involved.
3. probability of accidents
4. severity of risks within the usage environment (i.e. in office or on site)
The tablet's hinge and screen are the most troublesome to repair, so the price of the accidental damage for these machines are more expensive.
