After a bad experience with an consumer Acer I decided to go with Thinkpad. I abuse my laptop a lot so I decided to buy at least a 3 year Warranty.

In the buying process i came across this options and I don't know what to choose (not a budget problem):

    3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day @ $89.25
3 Year Depot Upgrade with 3 Year ThinkPad Protection @ $209.25

Is the Accidental Damage Protection worthed the price???

If you feel like you are going to drop/step on/run over / spill liquids on / set fire to your laptop within those 3 years, then yes get it.

If you are confident in your capabilities as a user and feel that there is a snowflakes chance in hell that you do any physical damage to it.. then do not buy the accidental damage plan.

I agree, but another factor is who else is going to be using your machine or who else will you be near while using it(ex: kids, pets, crazy college kids etc..) All things to think about.

The only time the accidental damage came in handy when I had a thinkpad was when I spilled acetone on the keyboard. They do come in handy sometimes.

I've seen a few cases here at my college where people drop their laptop, etc and it saves them a lot of money.

Regular warranties usually don't cover cracked LCD screens so it might be worth getting - especially if the screen/lid looks like it has a bit of flex to it.

Is your laptop covered by your home insurance? Im in the UK, covered my laptop with my home contents insurance cover for no extra cost.
Spilled coffee on my last laptop a week ago, and have just brought my 1330 on the cover. Had to pay a £100 excess cover but definately cheaper than having to buy a new laptop from nothing.
