    Yeah,

some users report problems with their wlan, but not all users have problems.

It seems to be a driver problem, sp3 install it´s own driver, update your lenovo wlan driver.

It is important to look into the installation guide, because some drivers
have to be installed in a specific order.

I had the same issue when my automatic Update updated to SP3. Access would could not recognize Wirless Router Network!

You will need to disable the Thinkvantage Access portion and utilize WZC
    (Wireless Zero Configuration)

Method 9: Verify Windows wireless zero configuration
If your notebook cannot make a connection to a wireless network, verify Windows wireless zero configuration. Use the following steps to verify Windows wireless zero configuration.
    Click Start .
    Click Run .
    Type " services.msc " without the quotes.
    Locate Wireless Zero Configuration.
Right click Wireless Zero Configuration .
    Select Properties .
Under Startup type: select Automatic in not selected.
Under Service status: click Start .
    Click OK .
    Close Services.

After updating to XP SP3 I had issues with my wireless in that it would not resume from the lid closed position after opening it again, and also lost my trackpoint functionality. After downloading necessary drivers from lenovo it worked itself out.

What I've noticed with wireless/lan/access-connections problems is that a fair bit of them can easily be resolved by completely uninstalling all related drivers (WLAN and LAN) and access connections, and re-installing them 1-by-1 making sure each are working before starting on the next.
I've solved numerous such problems on my own as well as friends' and colleagues' Thinkpads by just doing this.

While Access Connections can be finicky, it sure beats the feature-starved wireless features in XP.

What features does AC provide? I remember when my laptop was new, I tried to use AC but could never get it to work, so I gave up. Anyway, I just reinstalled XP from the Lenovo restore disks (because I couldn't get SP3 to install, and the system was generally buggy). The Windows "Wireless Network Connection" (I don't think it's been called "Wireless Zero Configuration" in years) lists all the available connections, and remembers passwords for the ones you use. What more functionality do you need? I would be willing to give AC another shot if it offered useful features or was more reliable. XP does fail to connect occasionally but always repairs OK.

Access Connections allows you to use different home pages, proxy settings, Virtual Private Networks, DNS settings, static vs. dynamic IP addresses, firewall settings, and printers for EACH different connection. I find this feature to be invaluable, but if you only connect to a few similar residential networks and don't need this flexibility, then the Windows utility may be adequate.

Thanks for the response. I think I don't need it, and based on this thread I don't think I'll try it. But I am trying to figure out why the Windows connection utility is so unreliable. At least half of the time I boot up, I get the "limited or no connectivity" message. Anyway, don't mean to hijack the thread. Thanks.
