My wireless connects everywhere absolutely fine. EXCEPT for school. My school uses an unsecured network, which redirects your browser to the portal login page and then allows you through to the internet. My eeepc 100HE with it's gigabyte N300 card connects fine every time. Other laptops around me connect fine all the time. My T400s times out ALWAYS. The connection to the whatever portal server address has been interrupted. It eventually works, but without any predictable pattern. It seems just 15-20 tries gets it through. I thought I would try and manage the wlan with Access Connections to see if it connects properly. My main question is before I install it do I disable the windows Wlan Autoconfig service, or just set it to manual, or leave it on? or what? I tried installing Access Connections with it enabled, and it seemed as if windows was still controlling the wlan, but Access Connections could simply read information about the connections. Also if Access Connections does not work, what might be causing my card to not connect properly? I don't know where to start looking, could be any of a number of software settings as well. It's an Intel 5300 with the 13.03.0000 Lenovo/Intel drivers.

As far as I know, you cannot use both Win Zero Configuration and a third-party utility. But, isn't TP Wireless Connections already installed, or have you clean installed your t400s? In any case, when installing Acc Conn, it should ask you whether you want to use that or the built-in Zero Config. You don't have to disable it first. Apparently, however, since TP Acc Conn didn't prompt you during install, you can set up later which of the 2 utilities you want to use. This is what happens in all other double WLAN utility schemes. I am not sure why you're having this problem though, since you can connect to all other wireless networks. I am in a network with a similar setup to yours (albeit wired) and it works fine with both my TP with Acc Conn and my other laptop with Zero Config.

Did you clean install your laptop? what's your wireless signal strength? If you haven't done so already, connect through a wired connection and see if that works. It might have some screwy problem with the sign on server that can only be resolved by connecting through wired first.

I did a clean install. With win7 the wireless service needs to be left on. It works now. Was actually a firefox issue. IE routed me through the portal just fine. Kept Access Connections anyways, I liked it.
