I have been having a problem with Access Connections lately. I can't remember making any changes to the program's settings since I got my T61p (running Vista Business) in April. For the last few days, every time I bring up the program from the system tray, my CPU usage jumps to 50% and bounces up and down from 25% to 75% while my RAM is rapidly consumed from its normal 50% usage (I have 2 gigs) up to 99% usage in about 5 minutes where it stays.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Access Connections with no effect.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    rb

When your CPU is jumping, open up task manager and see if any particular process is making the CPU spikes.

Thanks for the suggestion. This morning I opened the Task Manager and then opened Access Connections. The Task Manager showed that AcSvc.exe was responsible for the dramatic increase in CPU usage, ranging from 5% to 50%, with 16 threads. Also, the Task Manager showed that AcSvc.exe ate all of my available RAM (over a gig at the start) until it got to 1.47 gigs of usage and Hard Faults of over 3,000/min (whatever that means, but it sure was big compared to the other ones listed).

Any ideas what to do now?

    thanks,
    rb

Thanks for taking the time to research my problem and posting a solution. When I first uninstalled Access Connections, I only removed the program, but left the profiles. This time I axed them all. I reinstalled and all works fine now.

I appreciate you taking the time to do that for me.

p.s. How do I add rep points for you?
