    Absurdly loud DVD drive in T410?

    I haven't used my DVD drive for the most part, but I fired up a movie the other day and it is MASSIVELY loud whenever it is spinning and reading. Like, almost as loud as the speakers will go (which isnt much on a thinkpad :rolleyes:).

    I just wanted to check and see if you guys have similarly terribly loud dvd drives? It's not a big deal because I never use it, but I was SHOCKED by the jet engine sound compared to my old laptop.

    Have you tried the difference settings in Power Manager. See attached.

    Oh i never noticed those! thanks. Although it's already on normal, I will put it on silent and see if its better.
