Hey guys, I'm about to purchase a T61p because they are extremely cheap now, and my dad gets another 15% off for working at IBM. I have a couple questions though:

If I upgrade the harddrive myself, does that void the warranty? Also if I upgrade the RAM myself will that void the warranty as well?

I plan on ordering my T61p with 1GB RAM and upgrade to 4GB for half they price they are asking. Also, I want a 320GB 5400RPM HD but they don't have that as a customization feature, so I wanted to install that myself as well.

    Thanks guys!

Upgrading HDD and RAM will not void warranty. :)

Upgrading hard drive and ram shouldn't void warranty. It's like 3 minutes to swap hard drive and 15 minutes to swap ram anyway.

They could probably tell the hard drive has been swapped before though. There's some threadlocker on the screws.

It's pretty easy to access both parts on the T61p. just be careful with the trackpad connector ribbons on the palmrest.
