I have decided to buy a Thinkpad as my back to school notebook but I'm having a hard time deciding which direction to go.

I can either get this configuration:

    Lenovo Thinkpad T500
    15.4” WSXGA+ 1680x1050
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2 25W
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    2GB PC3-8500 DDR3 1067MHz
    160GB HD 7200 RPM
    ATI HD3650
    DVD RW 8x DL
    Wireless AGN
    Bluetooth
    $1473.78 taxed and shipped

    from here: http://www.pcconnection.com/IPA/Sho...412&srccode=cii_9324560&cpncode=07-68217014-2

By the way has anyone ever heard of or had experience with PC Connection. Are they a trustworthy and reputable store?

My other option is this configuration:

    Lenovo Thinkpad T61
    Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz 800MHz 3MBL2
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    15.4” WSXGA+ 1680x1050
    NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M
    3GB PC2-5300 DDR2 800MHz
200GB HD 7200 RPM Disk Encryption
    DVD RW 8x DL
    Wireless AGN
    No Bluetooth
    $1163.84 taxed and shipped

This laptop will used for word processing, photo editing, light video editing, light gaming etc. Which direction do you recommend I go?

Both of them are OK, but for me, I will choose the new model.

However, if you do some reaserch , you can get the cheaper price with CPP discount.
