    It has the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M graphics chip. Is that one of the GPUs with bad soldering?

    Yes the gpu is affected by the nvidia's gpugate.

    If they're in your price range, take a look at the T500 and W500(if you're needing this for pro graphics apps). The ATI HD3650/V5700 are about as powerful as the FX 570M, and are significantly more reliable.
