I'm a big fan of IBM, but will be the first to admit their screens are not as glorious as some other brands. They don't use a shiny finish and they don't go for the extra bright look. The screens aren't bad by any means, they're always bright enough and crisp with no leakage...but I would say they're not as good as what you're seeing on the LG in terms of brightness and contrast.

    Hi...
I was using a Fujitsu Siemens laptop , for some days. I must say that IBM is better than that. I can make out by the quality of pics I see on the IBM T42. In fact I feel the screen is as bright as other laptops. Could anyone pls explain why they think the IBM screens are any less better than others?

I like the Thinkpad screens far better than any of the glossy screens such as XBrite, etc.
The glossy screens are far too reflective, and cause eye fatigue much quicker than standard matte screens.

Many professional photographers use Thinkpads because they find the color accuracy to be excellent.

I am no photographer, but I find that to be true as well, the color reproduction is WOW true. I am looking for a good deal on T42/3, maybe will buy it from auction as my previous A30.
