Hello!
I've been thinking on purchasing a non-oem replacement for my T60p thinkpad, but I read somewhere that the system will be aware it's not a genuine IBM part and will keep flashing an annoying message saying it isn't so. Is this true?
Is there any non-OEM battery that does not cause this to happen? Or is there a way to disable this message from popping out?
Have you had any luck using non-oem batteries on your thinkpad? What brand and seller would you recommend.
I've been looking at batteries on eBay, but there are so many choices I'm very confused on which one to get. I know I want a 9-cell battery. I currently have a totalled 10.8V 7.8AH 9 cell 92P1132, but I kind of wanted to save some money and purchase a replacement that's more affordable than the $100+ battery that Lenovo sells.
Thanks in advance.

There's T60 nine-cell batteries in the outlet for $44 right now. The downside is the 90 day warranty. I bought one myself last year for my R60. It looked and performed like a new one. I'd say it's worth the risk.

Thanks for helping me Zaz. I just ordered the refurbished battery through the outlet! Let's see how that goes

The thinkvantage software (optional, may not be on your system) will occasional say that it is a non genuine battery. I had a generic 9 cell battery for mine, it didn't pop up all the time but once in a while it would. In the thinkvantage software it would say that it was not a genuine Lenovo battery.
