I read on Lenovoblogs that you can only use the Thinkvantage suite to make one set of recovery DVDs, is that true, because if it is, that's retarted. I was planning on making recovery DVDs of my new laptop image and another set after I install all the programs...

Well if it is true.. you can just copy the DVDs or make ISOs out of them.

You get a better, faster backup if you set up your machine like you want and do a ghost image.

When you make a backup image with Ghost or Acronis, can you store the backup on an external hard drive? Or do you have to store it on DVD's?

And when you want to restore from the backup (like when your computer just crashed, and you can't even start up) and your backup file is stored on an external hard drive, how do you access the backup?

I use Acronis and write my backup images directly to a USB external drive. Acronis allows you to create a BartPE bootable CD/DVD. You boot the computer using the CD/DVD and restore the image directly from the USB drive. Works great.

Windows Vista Backup should also create pretty much an image of your laptop as well.
