My ThinkVantage software (access connections, power manager, etc) was working fine about 2 hours ago. I had AVG 7.5 Internet Security Network Edition installed on my T60. Then, I reinstalled AVG (same exact thing) except I added the firewall. Now, none of my ThinkPad software works.

When I press the ThinkVantage button, I get no response. I tried added the programs to the allowed list and got Access Connections to work but nothing else.

    Any ideas?

Does the ThinkVantage button work when you uninstall AVG or is it now permanently disabled?

No idea. I haven't tried uninstalling it, but I will try tonight. Also, to add to the problems, the middle button on the TrackPoint is behaving like a normal scroll button. (Which some people would prefer, but I've gotten used to their's.)

I had the same issue, might be the last AVG update. Couldn't get into ThinkVantage or the wireless manager and I fixed my T61p by uninstalling AVG. Initially I suspected the same thing when AVG was putting a dll from a ThinkVantage folder into quarantine.

I didn't think of doing that initially so I wasted a couple hours trying to reinstall all the ThinkVantage software indirectly using another computer. The reinstalls did not fix anything.

If you are referring to AVG 8 Free... it is a total mess IMO.

    Check this out:

    http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/read.php?13,121256,backpage=,sv=

I fought with it since yesterday and had to do restore point rollbacks 3 times as it would corrupt my Vista installation each time. I never had to use restore points in my life until this. Very bad IMO.

I hope they fix this ASAP.

Drop AVG. Get NOD32. If you are crafty, you can edit the registry to make the free trial last as long as you want. 100% legal.
