Anyone know? Didn't see anything in tabook or the top seller page on IBM.

Great question: someone here told it is probably DDR2
if it was DDR3 it would be better than the vid card in the t61p -
can someone explain to me the difference?
-
DDR3 is faster than DDR2. And the 3650 in the T500 most likely uses DDR2.
-
How significant is the performance jump? also, what are we basing the DDR2 assumption off of?
-
It depends on how high clocked the memory is on the DDR3 card. But I have seen a difference of around 1000 points in 3DMark06, between a DDR2 and DDR3 card (think it was an Nvidia 8600M GT). So it will boost gaming, for sure.
I base the assumption on that Lenovo probably will use DDR3 memory for the ATI card in their W500, their "premium" work station machine. So they will just stick with DDR2 for the ATI card in the T500. But I hope to be surprised of course... -
okay, i've been searching around....came up with this thread
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=275721
it seems like people have a different perspective of which one's faster..etc or even which card is equipped with which type of memory.
Can you post the benchmark comparisons between the two types of HD3650? -
In the review of the Dell Studio 17 here on this website, which uses an ATI 3650... there is a table:
Dell Studio 17 (2.50GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9300, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650) 2,974 3DMarks
Asus M70S (2.50GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9300, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650)
3,799 3DMarks
I think the Dell uses DDR2, and the Asus DDR3... -
UPDATE:::::
Okay, so I just got off the phone with a Lenovo sales representative, and he told me that the Lenovo T500 laptop came with this GPU:
"ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3650 256mb Flash Memory"
I had no idea that a GPU would use flash memory; based from what I've seen so far, there was DDR2 and GDDR3.
Can someone explain to me where flash memory stands in comparison DDR2 and GDDR3 in terms of performance?
Thanks -
Flash memory seems like an obvious error in their information...
-
Flash memory? are you kidding
-
sarcasm
Windows Vista now includes ReadyBoost for your graphics card! Just plug in a usb stick and double your crysis frame rate!

The 3650 in the T500 gets into the 4000+ 3dmark range.
-
Kevin: wow, that puts a lot to rest..
How do you know? Are you reviewing the T500 as well as the T400? -
Maybe it's on par with the ATI V5700 in the W500 then, which got around 4200 if I remember correctly. If the resolution used is the same.
-
is 4000+ in 3Dmark good for the t500???
-
That makes it comparable to the T61P with the Quadro 570M. This is fine considering the T500 is not a workstation but the T61P is. The W500 should compare more favorably.

It is GDDR3, just opened it up and confirmed it
GDDR3 SDRAM H5RS5223CFR -
Woot! Yay for Kevin
-

T400 also has GDDR3 memory

I was just going to ask about the T400. This is great news!
-
Oh man! I'm relieved !
We are waiting for the review now! -
any chance the first look review will be done before monday?
-
dietcokefiend DietGreenTeaFiend
Done before monday yes, published before monday probably not lol
-
Seems like , by elimination, the review will be published... AFTER MONDAY!
Hahaha
When will it be published please? -
dietcokefiend DietGreenTeaFiend
After Sunday
-
Awesome
I'll gladly/impatiently wait for the review -
Its looking more and more I'm gonna go with a t500 to replace my very old zv6000.
