This is so annoying, I finally got my thinkpad t500 but its in french lol. I thought you could change the language inside control panel but thats not possible, you need to change the whole OS. Now that i checked my receipt it shows I chose Vista french, I had paid no attention to that... I dont know how i ended up choosing french!!!! oh man, will lenovo be able to do something about this or should I wait till the windows 7 upgrade?
-
I Dont even think I can upgrade to Windows 7 since in order to upgrade you require the previous OS to have the same language!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Give them a call and explain the situation
-
Can't you just install the language pack for the language you want...
-
The the bios will be off.....

You always wanted to learn French right? ItÂ’s a blessing in disguise!

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
Yes, why bother with these hassles. It will come to bite you later. Give lenovo a call and get the problem corrected.
-
You can download the Vista MUI language packs. Check:

Download the pack but also give Lenovo a call.

I hope you have the high-resolution version of the T500. French isn't that efficient in putting information in small sentences...
-
Well, I suppose you could buy Vista and then upgrade to 7 later... if you're a student, you can get Vista Ultimate for $60ish.

You story sounds interesting, while mine is totally sad: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=417143

I would hardly describe your situation as sad, perhaps a bit annoying or irritating, but not sad.
By all means contact Lenovo. There may be a simple solution. If you don't get any traction with Lenovo, contact [email protected]. He has an account here, but you're probably better off contacting him at Lenovo forums. Good Luck. -
Thanks for all the replies, i contacted lenovo and sure enough they will be sending recovery CDs that will allow a language restore. In any case you can do this manually too, but I wanted the recovery cds so i obliged.
ARGHHHH got my thinkpad with the wrong langauge!!!
