Ok, so I bought my thinkpad last summer for school use however, my microsoft office disc has been stolen, I have the receipt for the laptop still and the packaging. What do I need to do. I tried using my dad's Microsoft office 2003 but I can't read ANY of my school files on it! What do I need to do?

Ugh, yes I had word 2007, im very aware i need a compatibility pack to read the new formats, but I need office 2007 to be compatible with most of my school computers...and plus I absolutely hate 2003, I installed it out of desperation

I want to know if theres a way to get office 2007 back...

You can use Office 2003 documents on Office 2007 computers. And if you have the compatibility pack as previously mentioned you can use Office 2007 documents on 2003 computers (minus some small dependencies). It's really nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the link!! I've been going throughout the whole school year using slow school computers because I couldn't convert!

You can download and install the Office 2007 trial from Microsoft, then just enter your product key. No need for the disc.

I'm actually surprised to see that someone likes Office '07. Most of the users at my school hate it.

I would say the vast majority of users like it, from my experience. A usable UI is nothing to laugh at.

A bling bling UI is definitly something to laugh at.
As has been stated, you can enter your serial key into the trail.
    Or use OpenOffice.

"Usable" ... hehe, that concept must be pretty personnal because I couldn't figure out where was the "File" menu to access printing the first time I used it, so I just CTRL+P'd... Didn't feel intuitive at all to me. Then I figured out the Vista "Ball" start menu concept..*sigh*

Well I think 07 is good too. BTW, when you open Office 07 for the first time, a tooltip tells you about the Office Button, or Vista "Ball" as you call it.

I think many people mistake different for worse.

Didn't you say you had proof of purchase?

Call the activation line (866-432-3012). Tell them you have lost your distribution media and be sure to tell them that you have proof of purchase.

There may be a tiny charge. An alternative is to borrow someone's disk of the same product. Tell them you've lost your product key but that you have proof of purchase and that you'd like to install.

I did it today... I began by talking to a human, talking to the robot twice, being transferred and dropped once, and was finally connected to Bollywood, heard rock and roll music and finally talked to another human who was actually helpful and who activated my Visio.

I second that. Product activation on the phone isn't all that painful and I've never had much of a wait.
