Not sure if people need or already know this, but the y580 has a very bad touchpad and to make matters worse there is not auto disable option for it.

So after playing around with settings for a while I finally found a way to sort of cheat the system and it works perfectly for me, to the point where I do not need to disable touch pad anymore. In a coinsidence it has also made the touchpad far more responsive and easy to use (although that might be placebo effect).

    Ok so steps:

Go to Device Settings for your touchpad

1 - I got to the Synaptics Pointing devices next to the windows clock tab on the task bar
2 - Right click the icon and go to Point Device Properties
3 - If Synaptics ClickPad is highlighted click the Settings Button
4 - Another window will pop-up, once it pops up click the + next to Pointng, then the + next to Sesitivity.
5- Palmcheck and Touch Sensitivity should be shown.
From here on you can use my suggestions or find those that suite your needs but there worked for me:
6 - Click on PalmCheck and put it to Maximum
7 - Click on Touch Sensitivity and slide it to Light Touch.

Make sure you hit apply for both and test out the touchpad.

You'll notice that if you start placing and sliding the bottom side of your thumb (the palm part of your thumb that is) it will no longer be detected by the track pad. If you then use your finger the trackpad will work just fine. My suggest is that if you use the trackpad now you start from the middle for much easier detection (finger :)).

Hope this helped :) Happy gaming and typing with your trackpad on now :)

This was tested in windows 8, it also made the tile functions work better :)
