Does anyone know if ibm or a 3rd party makes a slot loading dvd-rw drive for the thinkpad t61 ultraslim bay? I really dislike the tray loading one.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but it's going to be tough since Lenovo doesn't make any. The T series uses super slim optical drives, most drives won't fit. There are some 9.5mm slot loading drives like on the MacBook Pro, but I believe those aren't sold with bezels. The other issue is making it fit. If you can find a drive with a bezel and the right height, ThinkPad drives have a notch in the corner for the eject mechanism which other drives won't have. It may be possible to cut it to fit.
