    Hi to all,

i have a little wonder about how Lenovo's Power Manager works.
Because i work my T61 more like a desktop (meaning, it is on my desk most of the time) I have set it to "Charge will start when below 80% and stop at 95%" and thus i have always connected it to A/C.

As i understand it, this means that when on A/C the battery will continue to discharge and when it reach 80% it will then start receiving power and this will stop when on 95%.

The strange thing is that although it stops when it reach 95%, it will drop at 94% after a while and then it stops there. Even after 2 days it still shows 94%. I would imagine that in 2 days a battery will have lost more than 1% of it's remaining power...

It seems that in the above scenario battery is still receiving power or the Power Manager Gauge display false data.

Is this something that i am missing here ??

With the settings you have, the battery will only charge when it's below 80% and stop charging when it hits 95%. Other than that, if you plug in your laptop and the charge is anywhere between that, then your battery will stay put. I highly recommend you read the battery guide here on notebookreview.

I meant your battery charge will stay put. For example, if your battery charge is at 85% when you plug it, it will stay at 85%. That's why the battery guide suggests you keep your charge around 40-60% for maximum battery life. It also stays constant when it's above your charge tresholds.

I usually have my settings to charge when below 36% and stop charging at 40%.

I think i will go your way and try this. Do you think this solution is better than setting up/down charge limits ourselves ?

This actually didn't do anything for me. I had it set for a few weeks and nothing really changed, it was as if it was set on fully charged. Maybe you'll see a difference in yours.

I also choose for this option. so far it's workin fine. and i just treat it as a normal battery. only charge when its arround 20%. sometimes keep it plug on 100%. but i don't know about the "notify about the threshold thing"

anyone have been notified about that ??

In my experience this is not true. In an ideal world the battery would indeed stay at same charge level as when the AC was plugged in since the computer is now receiving all its power from the plug. In real life however the battery slowly discharges anyway of its own accord and it would do so even if it was safely tucked away in your closet.

OP, if you are still seeing 94% after two days, be happy with it! All it means is that you have a nice strong battery that holds its charge well. Give it some more time and you'll see the charge level slowly go back down to the 80% lower threshold you had set.

I wouldn't trust the automatic setting, especially if it allows the battery to get up to 100%.
